Rapid Response Grants

Private philanthropy is starting to realize that federal funding cuts hurt everyone. Some private funders are beginning to step into the breach. Below is a sampling of grant opportunities that have recently arisen in response to federal cuts:

New Jersey only – NJ Strong: Emergency Fund

Some of our most vital nonprofit organizations across the state are experiencing federal funding freezes and terminations of existing contracts right now. In response, the Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) has partnered with generous CFNJ fundholders to create a rapid-response fund. This fund aims to provide a safety net for nonprofits, help them weather this funding crisis, and minimize service disruptions in our communities. See – https://cfnj.org/grantopportunities/

South, Southwest, and Midwest – Mobilize Power Fund

The Mobilize Power Fund is a rapid response fund that resources gender justice organizations to adapt or pivot their work when met with unanticipated, time-sensitive opportunities or threats to their movement building work and organizing conditions. See – https://www.thirdwavefund.org/mobilize-power-fund

Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and/or Washington – The Pride Foundation

The Fortitude Fund is a rolling, adaptable fund designed specifically for organizations experiencing increased, exacerbated, or new urgent needs due to the increasingly hostile socio-political landscape on the federal, state, and local levels. Closed now but expected to reopen later this summer. Nationwide – Transgender Law Center and Emergent Fund

Transgender rights are under attack. This rapid response grant was created by Transgender Law Center and Emergent Fund to move $1 million to support trans-led organizing, healing, and power-building efforts. Details are here – https://transgenderlawcenter.org/action-for-transformation-fund/
